Home Movie Day!

Join the annual celebration of the South Side Home Movie community!

Video Lounge: Spend a cozy afternoon watching scenes of vintage South Side life in our Pop-Up Video Lounge, complete with comfy couches and popcorn, with DJ Lori Branch spinning a live soundtrack.

Intro to Ramon Williams: Get a sneak peek at the latest revelations from the Ramon Williams Collection, offering a new lens on the South Side’s cultural contributions to Black arts and social class in America.

Home Movie Drop Off: Got some old film reels in a basement or box? Bring them with you, and talk to an archivist on-site about options for preserving, digitizing and donating your family films for generations to come.

New Tools for Teachers and Students: Try out the new SSHMP Orientation + Curriculum for students, teaching artists and teachers. Designed for high school-aged students, these activities and resources are a great introduction to this unique local source for history, social science and arts projects.

Plus t-shirts and buttons, food and drink, and Home Movie Bingo!
