Curator’s Notes

Stephen Flemister's interdisciplinary practice spans painting, sculpture, print media, and new media. Focuses primarily on portraiture and digital culture. Holding an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Flemister's artistic production is increasingly experimental. as he seeks to test the limits of the materials and mediums that he works with and in. In this bust his facility as a sculptor elevates an everyday material like cardboard to a new level.
